Instructions

After World War II and the continued expansion of the Soviet Union, the Western nations (especially The United States and Great Britain) started to oppose communism as discussed in the Truman Doctrine, as seen with the building of the Berlin Wall, and participation in the Vietnam War and the Cold War. It was only natural that these competing ideologies would increase leading to the need for newly developed international relations as seen from the Arms Race and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Since the end of the Cold War, nations have still tried to impose their values and ideologies on others in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere. This is not a new phenomenon as the imposition of values has been going on for centuries. There are potentially many unintended consequences for both sides when liberal values are imposed on others.

SOLARO Study Guides offer a number of excellent practice questions for you to try before your quiz (Calgary Public Library Card Required).
